Paraguay is one of my favorite places in the world to eat because it offers some of the best food at the cheapest prices. You will never consume more meat than in the country of Paraguay, so if you aren't a meat eater, there will be very few options on the menu. Paraguayan people are carnivores at heart, and their culture revolves around cooking meat. Every single house and apartment in Paraguay comes with a built-in grill for cooking meat; this is a necessity for every Paraguayan home. Since Paraguay is a major livestock exporter, you are getting farm-to-table food and will never have fresher meat than in Paraguay. However, because Paraguay is a landlocked country, there is very little seafood on the menu, except for the local fish from the Paraguayan river called the Surubi. Besides this fish, I tend to stay away from seafood due to my doubts about its freshness and stick with the meat.
Paraguayan people also eat extremely late, which you will notice right away when you go to a popular restaurant and find yourself the only person there at 8 pm. Paraguayans don't start eating until at least 10 pm at night, and when you combine that with consuming a massive steak right before bed, it's not the healthiest eating schedule, if you ask me. However, when in Rome... The late eating schedule is also probably why breakfast isn't big in Paraguay, and there are only a few breakfast spots. After a week of indulging in steaks in Paraguay, you will be looking forward to a juice cleanse when you return home.
Breakfast & Lunch Spots

El Café de Acá - This is my favorite place to grab breakfast in Paraguay. It is a very popular spot and offers great food in a beautiful courtyard setting. They also have a bar area, making it a good choice if you are traveling solo and prefer to dine alone. I highly recommend trying the Paraguayan breakfast, which consists of French toast with eggs mixed with bacon. They have two locations, both equally unique and excellent.
Locations:

Address: Av Gral Máximo Santos 1030, Asunción, Paraguay

Factoria Hotel - The hotel restaurant offers incredible food. Dining outside is a majestic experience, while the interior resembles a museum. For breakfast, there is no menu; they simply ask how you would like your eggs and bring you everything you could possibly want.
Address: Dr. Francisco Morra 813, Asunción, Paraguay

Karu - This cafe is ideal for meeting friends and enjoying a leisurely lunch outdoors. Additionally, it features a full-service bakery where you can grab pastries to take with you
Address: Enciso Velloso, entre, Cnel. Cabrera 2870, Asunción, Paraguay
Dinner

La Cabrera is the top steakhouse in Paraguay, boasting several locations. While you can find La Cabrera at both Shopping del Sol and Paseo la Geleria, my personal favorite is the standalone restaurant. It exudes the charming ambiance of dining in an old house, which adds to the overall experience.
Address: Av. Sta. Teresa 2795, Asunción, Paraguay
