I had the opportunity to attend the Bitcoin Prague conference this year and highly recommend it if you're a Bitcoiner or have a business in the industry and want to network. Prague is a world-class destination, often likened to the Vegas of Europe, with plenty of partying and activities. I definitely recommend planning your next Euro trip around attending the conference. The BTC Prague conference is about half the size of the Bitcoin Conference in the U.S., making it more intimate and easier to meet some of your favorite names in the industry. Additionally, if you are on a budget, BTC Prague allows you to buy expo tickets for $30 instead of paying almost $400 for expo plus speakers. I spent 95% of my time in the expo and would recommend just getting the expo tickets if they still have this option available next year.
Since BTC Prague was a smaller venue, I had the opportunity to meet legendary Bitcoiner Adam Back. For those of you who aren’t familiar with him, Adam is the second person mentioned in Bitcoin. His company, HashCash, was referenced in the Bitcoin white paper, and some people have speculated he could be Satoshi Nakamoto. Now, Adam is a billionaire and owns the company Blockstream, which has many projects, including beaming the Bitcoin protocol down to Earth via five satellites. This allows him to help process payments for people with expensive broadband in Africa, essentially creating a Starlink for Bitcoin. People would only need to process the Bitcoin transaction, not the entire network. This is all information I learned from a conversation with Adam Back. He was extremely generous with his time and humble. If Adam Back is Satoshi Nakamoto, I’m glad.
I highly recommend attending a Bitcoin conference near you whenever you get the chance. The BTC Prague conference had everything from Bitcoin beer vending machines to Bitcoin miners that can heat your home—things I never knew were possible. There are tons of innovative products being developed around the Bitcoin industry, and I believe the next wave of millionaires and billionaires will come from Bitcoin-related businesses. I am considering organizing a Bitcoin Buenos Aires conference, as there hasn’t been a large-scale Bitcoin conference in Latin America yet.
